Garland Walters

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Garland James Glove Walters went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2020 at the age of 89. Garland was born December 1, 1930 in Stilwell, OK to James and Anna Mae Walters followed by 6 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother with baby, 2 sisters, 1 brother, his son Charles and grandson Jimmy Joe.

On July 22, 1971, Garland married Joyce Darlene Overacker. In 49 years of marriage, they were loved by their 6 children- Charles Walters, wife Sandy, Jimmy (JimBo) Walters, Mike Norton, wife Cindy, Lisa Justis, husband Joel, Angela Renwick, husband Jody and Peter Walters, wife Sundi. They were blessed to then have 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.

Garland began working alongside his father at the age of 16 on the railroad until discovering his lifelong passion for rebuilding vehicles at the age of 20. Garland loved transforming what was broken into what it once was. He mastered his skills over the years and made a name for himself to eventually open his own body shop at the age of 37.

Garland loved life. Whether fishing the nearest lake, hunting down that big buck, or tilling his garden, he made sure to live each day to the fullest. At the age of 49, Garland gave his heart to the Lord. At the time of his death, Garland was a member of Cove Mission of Hope in Lanagan, MO. Whether playing guitar in church or just warming a pew, he loved the Lord and His work. Garland loved his family and treasured each and every moment he shared with them. We know he is waiting for us all to join him in his new home.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Cove Mission of Hope with Bro. Bob Cartwright and Audie Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
