Arnold Kichler

Arnold George Kichler, 77, of Weir, formerly Girard, Kansas died at 8:33 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his residence.

Arnold was born June 30, 1943 in Pittsburg, Kansas a son of Antone and Marie (Roth) Kichler. He grew in rural Girard and attended country school before attending Girard High School.

He married Shirley Kay Dunbar on July 16, 1960 in Girard and she survives of the home.








Arnold worked for Midwest Mineral, Forms Manufacturing in Girard, and O’Toole Construction Company at rural Girard. Arnold also worked for a Manhattan company that installed fiber optics in Girard. He retired in 2012.

He enjoyed his family, camping at Grand Lake, Oklahoma, construction work, deer hunting, and engineering new ways to do things.

Arnold was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Shirley, of the home, are his sons, Jesse Kichler (Marla) of Walnut, Kansas, Donnie Kichler (Lori) of Walnut, Jimmie Kichler (Amy) of Carl Junction, Missouri, Robbie Kichler (Angie) of Goodman, Missouri; his daughters, Susan Mitchell (Dean) of Weir, Beth Seal of Girard, Kathey Sammons (Ivan) of Parsons, Kansas, Cora Murray (Danny) of Radley, Kansas, Lori Ripple (David) of Weir, Lisa Mize (Brian) of Pittsburg, Tori Kichler Coleman (Rob) of McCune, Kansas; 44 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; his dog, Gizmo; his sisters, Cora Swift of Frontenac, Kansas, Florence Wiley of Grand Lake, Mildred Holloway of Girard.

Arnold was preceded in death by his sons, David Kichler and Frankie Kichler; his brothers, Martin Kichler, Pete Kichler, an infant; his sisters, Anna Price, Alfreda Strouse, Mary Lentz, Katie Wulf.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Hepler Cemetery with Jimmie Kichler officiating. Burial will follow the services.
