(From Ozark Funeral Home)Rodney Ray Horn was born Dec. 27, 1938 to Raymond Horn and Mildred (Childs) Horn. He left behind a sister, Deewina and Husband Robert Danley. A niece, Shari, and nephew, Mark.
Our eyes are filled with tears and our hearts are heavy. Rod had a great natural charisma and an Arnold Palmer style magnetism. He was an exceptional human being. He had a love for the great outdoors and a tender heart for all animals.
In Rod's early years he was an all around athlete. He played five professional sports: Golf, tennis, baseball, basketball and bowling. He was offered an athletic scholarship which allowed him to scrimmage against possibly the greatest basketball player-Wilt Chamberlain.
Rod was confident, classy, an upper-echelon athlete and on the fast track to being one of the great golfers of his time. He played against Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Lee Trevino, and Arnold Palmer-all good friends. Rod won the Twin Hills invitational four times between 1963-1967. He played in the U.S. Open Tennis Championship with Frank Conners. A car accident ended his career.
This is only a fragment of the life of a wonderful human being and a great precious friend. He will be mourned by many and always remembered by those you loved most.
On August 28, 2021,Rod entered the Kingdom of Heaven with open arms. Until we meet again my friend.
