(From Parker Mortuary)Carl Dee Smith, age 84, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 in Tulsa, OK.
Carl, son of the late Carl B. and Dorothy (Black) Smith, was born on June 24, 1937 in Sand Springs, OK. Carl grew up and received his education in Oklahoma.
In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country honorably.
After returning to Oklahoma, he then worked as a Law Enforcement Officer before becoming an over-the-road truck driver until his retirement. His passion in life was classic cars and attending car shows. He was a member of the Joplin local “Car Buddies” group and enjoyed traveling to shows and eating at the Golden Corral with the group regularly.
Survivors include his stepmother, Jean Smith of Joplin, MO; three sons, Benson Dale (Benny) Smith, of Sapulpa, OK, Kelly Don Smith, of Sand Springs, OK and Michael Franklin Smith, of Tulsa, OK; three daughters, Carllena (Carlla) Jewel McBeath, of Sand Springs, OK, Christina (Tina) Marie of Tulsa, OK and Kimberly (Kim) Renee, of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, June Cannon, of Newalla, OK and Rheva Ann Prather, of Newalla, OK; eight grandchildren; and multiple great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra McNeil.
Memorial services with full military honors will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Parker Mortuary with Bob Simon officiating.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
