(From Parker Mortuary)Zackary Otto Wood, age 38, of Joplin, passed away after a courageous three-year battle with cancer on August 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
Zackary, son of Robert and Kathy (Long) Wood, was born on September 21, 1982 in Midland, TX. At a young age he moved to Joplin with his family and attended school in Joplin. He later worked in construction, where he primarily focused on residential remodeling.
He loved the outdoors and was skilled in the sport of archery. He enjoyed watching baseball and coaching his friends’ kids. Zackary was a great friend to all who knew him and would never hesitate to help another in need. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Kathy Wood, of Joplin; one brother, Nathan Wood, of Joplin; two aunts, Leslie Forest, of Neosho and Rhonda (Long) Frazier, of Joplin; and a host of family and friends who loved him. Zackary was preceded in death by his father, Robert Wood; paternal grandparents, Robert F. and Dolly Wood; and maternal grandparents, Richard and Madge Long.
Celebration of life services will be announced at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
