Gene Gillman

Herbert Eugene "Gene" Gillman, II, passed away on May 22, 2024, in Joplin, MO, at the age of 69. He was born on October 11, 1954, in Neosho, MO, to the late Herbert Gillman Sr. and Helen (Land) Gillman.

Herbert was a 1972 graduate from Neosho High School. He was a talented musician who not only played the guitar but also built them with meticulous care. 

His love for music extended to the exhilarating experience of running sound for Lynyrd Skynyrd, a role that combined his technical skill with his passion for rock music. He also worked on jet engines, trains, and motorcycles. His hands were rarely still, always tinkering, always improving. 






His love for motocross racing showcased his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for the thrill of speed and competition. Cars were another of Herbert's passions. He could often be found under the hood of a classic car, restoring it to its former glory. His knowledge of automobiles was extensive. He enjoyed his role at Crowder Industries in Neosho, MO. as a Machine Specialist.

He is survived by his loving children; Kyle, Nathan, and Cody Gillman of Webb City, Nicholas Gillman of South Carolina, and Kristi Browning – Cote of Neosho.. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jaxen and Justin Booth, Alyssa Gillman, and Lathan Cote.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Crowder Industries located at 3707 Howard Bush Drive, Neosho, MO. 64850. Cremation arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
