Stan Marney

Stanley Champ “Stan” Marney, age 65, of Purdy, Missouri passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at his home.

He was born February 8, 1959 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of John and Jean (Bowman) Marney. On February 3, 2023 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Linda Mitchell, who survives. 

Also surviving are his father, John Marney of Exeter, Missouri; two sons, Cody Champ Marney and his wife Adrienne of Webb City, Missouri and Clyde Burl Marney of Fairview, Missouri; two brothers, Tim Marney and his wife Sarah of Cassville, Missouri and Mike Marney and his wife Karen of Purdy, Missouri; four stepchildren, Faith of Diamond, Missouri, Kelsi and her husband Casey of Archie, Missouri, Dylan and his wife Hayley of Anderson, Missouri and Elizabeth of Joplin, Missouri and seven grandchildren who called him Poppy Stan, Christianna, Sawyer, Kali, Adlee, Olyvia, Charlotte and Dylanni.








Stan grew up and attended school in Exeter, Missouri graduating from Exeter High School. He later attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri where he attained a bachelor's degree in animal science. Stan was employed at Schreiber Foods in Mt. Vernon for 15 years and Monett for five years from where he retired in 2023. He previously worked at the Joplin Stockyards in Joplin, Missouri as a pen back rider. Stan was a cowboy through and through. He went to the IFR Finals in 1992 and was rookie of the year. 

Raising cattle was not a job to him, it was his passion. Stan also broke and rode horses and was a hardcore Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a great friend and he appreciated his great friends. Stan was a member of Wheaton First Baptist Church.








Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball will conduct the services. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Shelly Sachs Foundation in memory of Stan.
