(From McCorkle Funeral Home)Linda Kay Book, age 79 of Pecatonica passed away Sunday morning June 9, 2024 at Alden Debes Nursing Home with her loving husband and daughters at her side.
Linda was born June 8, 1945 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Donald J. and Fern L. (Schulz) VanRaalte. She attended and graduated from Orangeville High School in 1963.
Linda married David A. Book on September 18, 1965 at First Lutheran Church in Freeport, IL. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Linda had worked at various places and retired from Anderson Packing in Rockford, IL in November 2002.
Linda will be loved and remembered for her enjoyment of reading, doing puzzle books and family gatherings. She was especially proud of the home she and David built in 1969. Linda was a longtime faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Pecatonica.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, David A. Book; daughters, Barbara (Mark) Klinger, Sharon (Brian) Berry; grandchildren, Rachel Klinger (Will Kissee) of Dixon, IL, Stephanie (Jacob Stuessy) Klinger, Nicholas (Beth) Berry, Cody (Jennah) Berry all of Pecatonica, IL; great grandchildren, Jameson Kissee, Wyatt Kissee, Londyn Berry, Lynorah Berry, Lylah Berry; brother, Dean (Ginny) VanRaalte of Lockwood, MO; and sister, Beverly Book of Pecatonica.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, special nephew, Randy Book, brother, Donald VanRaalte and brother-in-law, Everett Book.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at First Lutheran Church, 627 Taylor St., Pecatonica, IL from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Nord Swanstrom officiating. A reception will immediately follow the funeral ceremony at the church. Final resting place, Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.
A memorial in Linda's name is being established.
