Mark Lovelady

(From Parker Mortuary)

Mark C. Lovelady, 64, passed away on May 31, 2024, after a courageous 1 ½- year battle with cancer. He was born on October 4, 1959, in Hiawatha, Kansas, to the late Wayne Lovelady and Elizabeth “Betty” Hoar.

Mark's entrepreneurial spirit was evident from his early days when he started by sweeping floors at a Dairy Queen in Kansas as a child. This formative experience sparked a passion for business that led him to own a Dairy Queen in Arkansas and later, Unique Liquor, which had two successful locations. His industrious nature allowed him to retire at the lake house he was so proud of, a place that became his favorite spot to be.

Mark was a man who couldn't sit still for long; he kept busy by mowing, working in the yard at the lake, smoking ribs, and riding motorcycles and boats. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the UFC, and he cherished the moments spent watching games with his family. Mark was selfless, he would literally give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He was a giver, always looking after everyone else. His selfless acts of kindness and generosity touched the lives of all he encountered.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Lovelady; children, Matt Lovelady (Lindsey) and Marisa Davis; stepchildren, Spencer Leatham, Laney Black (Trey), Ryan Crissman, and bonus son Preston Southard; grandchildren, Finley and Avery Lovelady, Hudson and Macie Davis, D'Mitry Leatham, Brady and Brody Black; siblings, Tom Lovelady (Susie), Richard Lovelady (Kathy), and Greg Lovelady.

Along with his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his Stepfather, George Hoar; and siblings, Theresa Canham and Steve Lovelady.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation services are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
