Allen Brintnall

(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)

Allen Brintnall, 87, passed away on Thursday, September 12, in Carthage, MO, after an extended illness. He was comforted by family in his final hours, deeply and fully loved. He was well liked and highly esteemed by the staff at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, many of whom went out of their way to share their words of admiration as he lived his last day. He consistently told them, “thank you”, even at the very end. He was kind and considerate, always concerned for the well-being of others.

Allen was born on July 17, 1937, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Oletha (Dawson) Brintnall. They preceded him in death. He has a younger sister, Jaunita Shepard, of Parsons, KS, who survives.

Allen grew up around cars and trucks, as his father was a mechanic. Allen kept his love for vehicles his entire life, and could easily recall the tiniest details about his beloved 1949 Mercury or the 1926 Model T he tinkered with for decades, hoping to fully restore it one day. He restored several cars and looked for opportunities to help others through his mechanical gifts.

He married his highschool sweetheart and lifelong love, Joy Miller, on September 14, 1956, in McCune, Kansas. She survives. He passed away two days before their 68th wedding anniversary. They had three sons and one daughter, as well as twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Allen and Joy lived in towns throughout Kansas through the early years of their marriage, such as Parsons, Leavenworth, and Topeka. He worked for Hallmark Cards in the shipping department for a number of years before moving to Joplin, Missouri, to attend Ozark Bible College, as he wanted to learn more about the Bible and how to teach it to others. In addition to his full-time job, he worked as a supply preacher for numerous years, traveling to small churches in the area to preach sermons on an interim basis when church committees were searching to hire a permanent minister. Preaching was an expression of his spiritual devotion to God and his desire to encourage and support local churches. He was a humble man, and his willingness to serve churches on an interim basis, without fanfare, was an example of his meek spirit.

Allen was a 1955 graduate of McCune Rural High School. He earned a BSL degree from Ozark Bible College and a Master of Ministry degree from Kentucky Christian College. He also completed several units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

He worked for Ozark Christian College for a total of 30 years; 15 years as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, and 15 years as a Resident Director in Dennis Hall, alongside Joy. He served as the Chaplain and Assistant Administrator at Spring River Christian Village for 26 years, retiring in 2014. He cared for and supported countless families in their time of need and was a compassionate comforter. He made many friends in ministry who held him in high regard.

Allen enjoyed fishing and boating, watching TV westerns and KC Chiefs and Royals games, studying the Bible, tinkering in his garage, spending time with his family, and going out of his way to help others. He loved telling stories about his family to people who visited him in the nursing home, where he lived for the past eleven months. Although he missed being at home with his wife in the little log cabin he built for their retirement, Allen’s kind demeanor and sense of humor made an impact on the staff and residents at St. Luke’s.

In addition to his loving wife, Joy, Allen is survived by his children: Mike Brintnall and wife, Gloria, of Phoenix, AZ; Brian Brintnall and wife, Kathy, of Joplin, MO; Andy Brintnall and wife, Candy, of Corpus Christi, TX; Ann Wolfe and husband, Jeremey, of Joplin, MO. His grandchildren: Caleb Brintnall (fiancee, Brittany), Aaron Brintnall (wife, Ariel), Stephen Brintnall (wife, Samantha), Nathan Brintnall (wife, Gracie), Matthew Tarkington (wife, Jennifer), Ebeth Fielder (husband, Angelo), Clarissa Bowen (husband, Jacob), Brock Brintnall (wife, Lauren), Beighly Billman (husband, Dane), Lydia Wülfeiser (husband, Joseph), Elijah Wolfe, and Jude Wolfe. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Allen was a member of First Christian Church, now Connect Christian Church, in Carl Junction, MO, where he previously served as an elder and teacher. Memorial donations can be sent to Ozark Christian College, a place he held dear. Cremation services are being provided by Ozark Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, at 6 pm at Connect Christian Church in Carl Junction. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 11 am, at Connect Christian Church.

We miss our husband, dad, and grandpa. He was a special man, easily respected and effortlessly loved. We grieve with hope because of Jesus, and we tearfully rejoice that his beautiful soul is now with his Savior. Well done, good and faithful servant. You are so very loved. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.

Paul Eggeman

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul David Eggeman, a loving husband, father, and friend. He passed away peacefully with loved ones nearby on September 9, 2024. Paul’s warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Paul was born in Webb City, Missouri, on March 3, 1944. After graduating from Webb City High School, he joined the Navy, which provided an opportunity for him to travel far and wide. Following the Navy, Paul attended Pasadena City College in California and then graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a bachelor’s degree in history. Paul spent much of his adult life in Southern California, where he pursued a long career in the automotive industry. Upon retirement, he returned to his roots by moving back to Carterville, Missouri, where he lived the remainder of his years.

Paul was a devoted husband to his wife, Katie, whom he married on August 12, 1967. Together, they embarked on a beautiful adventure that spanned more than five decades, during which time they raised two beloved daughters and welcomed two dear grandsons into the world. Besides his family, Paul held great love for history and travel, which took him on many trips to historical sites (from Gettysburg to London to Rome, and many places in between) often accompanied by Katie, who shared his enthusiastic spirit. Another of Paul’s passions was restoring classic British sports cars, including a Triumph TR3, an MG TF, and an MG B; this hobby brought him immense fulfillment and pride. Paul also held a profound love for animals—all creatures great and small—and cared for many cherished pets over the years.

Although what might first come to mind when remembering Paul is his kind demeanor, playful sense of humor, or generous spirit, he was also a deep and sentimental soul, who often could be heard whispering the words, “Just think …” in moments of wonder and awe. Paul’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to endure in the hearts of those he touched.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Kathrine Eggeman and his brother Mark Eggeman. He is survived by his wife Katie; daughters Rebecca (Milan) Eggeman-Mashanovitch and Deborah Eggeman; sister Sue Ellen (Don) Miller; brother-in-law, Robert (Brenda) Rogers; two grandsons, Luka and Sasha; nieces, Megan and Kathy, and nephews, Ryan and Dustin.

The Eggeman family invites friends and loved ones to share their memories and photos of Paul at www.simpsonfh.com, where we celebrate his life and honor his warm and gentle spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Joplin Humane Society (or to one’s local Humane Society).

Goodbyes are only for those

who love with their eyes.

Because for those who love with

heart and soul there is no such thing
