(From Clark Funeral Home)Lloyd Lee Tanner, Jr., was born on May 1, 1938, in Treece, Kansas, the son of Lloyd Lee Tanner, Sr. and Bessie (Tuggle) Tanner. He entered into rest on September 24, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 86.
Lloyd was a lifelong area resident and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for twenty-nine years. While in the Navy, he worked as a Boatsen’s Mate (Boat Mechanic) and in 1965, he began his career with Eagle Picher, working in the installation division as an electrician for thirty-five years, retiring in 1999.
Following his retirement, he spent his time taking care of his grandchildren. Lloyd loved his family and enjoyed spending time with each of them. He and his wife, Judy, supported their children and grandchildren in their activities. He also enjoyed gardening and hunting and was a lifetime member of the NRA.
On December 19, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma, Lloyd and Judy Lee (Jackson) were united in marriage and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2018.
He is survived by their six children, Lloyd (Johnny) Tanner, III and wife, Debbie of Granby, Barbie Thomlinson of Goodman, Freddie Tanner and wife, Becky of Granby, Debbie Palmer and husband, Glen of Mississippi and twin daughters, Nancy Myers of Alma, Arkansas and Susanne Sargent and husband, Trent of Granby; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jean James of Granby and one brother, J.D. Tanner of Granby.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Memorial graveside services at the Granby Memorial Cemetery will be held on October 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
