Kerry Battles

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Kerry Don Battles, known affectionately as "Big B," passed away on September 11, 2024, in Reeds Spring, Missouri, at the age of 71. Born on November 17, 1952, in Bakersfield, California, Kerry led a life marked by devotion to his faith, family, and country.

A proud veteran, Kerry served in the United States Air Force, where he was a distinguished recipient of the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, reflecting his dedication to the values he held dear. After his honorable discharge, Kerry embarked on a successful career in the aircraft industry, where he contributed his skills and expertise for 45 years.

Kerry's educational journey included attending Moore High School, followed by studies at Rose State College and Cowley County Community College. These experiences shaped him into a lifelong learner and an influential member of his community.

A devoted Christian, Kerry's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. He was an active and beloved member of his church, where he shared his spiritual journey with others. His life was also filled with the joy of sports, cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kerry fulfilled his life-long dream by retiring to Table Rock Lake, where he was very proud to be the Dockmaster for his community (Make Docks Great Again!).

Kerry's personal life was rich with love and relationships. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Battles; brother Keith Battles (wife Ann), sisters Gaila Varney (husband Pete) and Reijeana Baker (husband Doug); his children Khris Shultz (wife Debbie), Jason Adams, Jeremy Adams, Keri Irvin (husband Robbie), Amie Seaman (husband Michael), Boomer (Kerry’s trusted sidekick who was so much more than just a dog!); as well as his cherished grandchildren Adriana (husband Cody), Kyla, Rylee (husband Isaac), Kaleb, Kolby, Garrison, Coralinn, Luna, Emma, Maddison, Dannika; and great-grandchildren Sunday, Valerie, and Maggie.

Kerry was preceded in death by his parents Ovie and Gertrude Battles, brothers Harold, Ronnie, Rudy and sister Vickie.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to any charity that supports veterans and current service members struggling with mental illness.
