(From Parker Mortuary)James Duane Turner, age 74, of Joplin, passed away on September 14, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Springfield.
James was born on September 24, 1949, in Fairland, OK, to the late union of Brog and Sunny (Williams) Turner. He attended and graduated from Afton High School. He then went on to create his own plumbing company, Turner Plumbing, where he worked for nearly 45 years before retiring.
He married Glenda McGhee and together they were blessed with 40 years of marriage before her passing. He enjoyed golfing, watching OU Football and Softball, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He also enjoyed watching Dr. Phil and Judge Judy regularly. On Sunday mornings he tuned into the Shepherd’s Chapel Church to watch Pastor Arnold and Dennis Murray preach. After church he enjoyed watching his favorite NFL team, The Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Turner; and one grandson, Tristen Turner.

James is survived by his three children, Thomas T.J. Turner and wife, Kristin, of Joplin, Melissa Turner, of Joplin, and Jennifer Knipp, of Van, TX; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Sandra Moore, Darreld Turner and wife, Carol, Sharon Walker and husband, Rick, Diana Whitney, Joyce Cave, and Johnny Turner and wife, Tammy.
There will be a celebration of life service held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Timberhill Cemetery in Welch, OK.
Cremation arrangements are under the special care of Parker Mortuary.
