Carla Day

Carla Elizabeth Day, 60, of Liberal, MO, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. 

Born in Nevada, MO, Carla graduated from high school in 1982. She made Liberal her home for over 30 years, becoming a beloved member of the community. She enjoyed dining at local favorites like Mary’s Flower Cart and Sweet Creations Bakery, where she found joy in the company of those around her. 








Carla was a dedicated member of the Liberal High School family for over 23 years, serving as a cook and custodian. She cherished the time spent with her close-knit group of friends from work, who were like sisters to her. They shared many wonderful memories together, celebrating holidays and enjoying each other's company at their gatherings. Her love for these moments was a true testament to the deep bond they shared. She also treated each student like her own, offering not only mentorship but also providing for their needs. 

Known for her kindness and generosity, Carla welcomed every child who needed a role model with open arms and an open heart. Her collection of crosses and angels was a reflection of the faith and compassion she shared with everyone in her life. 

Carla's love for her family was immeasurable. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially when dining out at places like Chicken Mary’s, Buzz’s BBQ, and Lotus Express in Ft. Scott. She is remembered for her warm spirit and the love she spread throughout her life. 

Carla is survived by her daughter Lanetta Torres-Ferrer and husband Steven of Liberal, MO; daughter Tracy Wilkowski of Carthage, MO; son Joe Olson of Iola, KS; daughter Darcy Herman and husband Scotty of Springfield, MO; and son Brandon Thompson of Liberal, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren Connor, Joey, Nolan, Zoey, and Vincent, sisters Donna Warren and Ginger Cooper, along with her beloved pets, grand pets, and many other family members and friends. 








She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth "Scott" Day, mother-in-law Clara Day, sister Maria Arthur, brother-in-law Greg Arthur, brother Frank Herman, sister-in-law Karen Herman, niece Amy Herman, and uncles Franny Nunez and Paul Nunez. 

Carla's legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a community that will miss her dearly. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, the family suggests DOGS, in care of the funeral home. The family will receive visitors on Thursday September 26, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and a memorial service will be held on Friday September 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
