(From Royer's New Salem Funeral Home)Evelyn "Louise" Baker, 94, of Independence, Mo., passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Royer's New Salem Funeral Home, Independence.
Graveside service will be held Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Rocky Comfort Cemetery, Rocky Comfort, Mo.
Louise was born on January 11, 1930, in Fairview, MO., daughter of Carl and Luva (Springer) Draper. She enjoyed a variety of activities including watching NASCAR, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and crocheting. Eating strawberries and tomatoes was also at the top of her list. Louise enjoyed her career at Sears, retiring after 44 wonderful years. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Winford "Bub" Baker; infant sister and grandson, Chris Baker.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Jeane (Bob) Hartley of Pleasant Hill; four sons: Larry (Sydney) Baker of Buckner, Mo., Carl (Brenda) Baker of Pleasant Valley, Mo., Cloyd (Shirley) Baker of Independence, and Clifford Baker of Independence; brother, Floyd Draper of Waynesboro, Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
