Roy Welch

Roy Lee Welch, age 90, Carl Junction, MO passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Mercy of Joplin.

Roy was born March 1, 1934 in Jasper County, MO, son of the late George Welch and Mary Bell (Capp) Welch. He grew up in Webb City and attended school there before going to work for Independent Gravel Company as a dump truck driver. He later worked with Ace Bearing and Electric in the Maintenance Department before retiring after several years of service. 






He was a longtime member of the RV Camper Club and enjoyed traveling and camping at several locations. He also enjoyed fishing at a lot of these locations. He had several hobbies, but his biggest enjoyment was mowing his lawn. He was meticulous about his lawn, and he was adamant about keeping his yard looking good. He did this up until his most recent illness. He loved spending time with his family, and will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Christina (Bendure) Welch, and a brother, Jesse M. Earl.








Survivors include his son, David L. Welch of Joplin; grandsons, David F. Welch and wife Jennifer of Carl Junction, MO, and Benjamin Welch of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Lilly, and Isaac.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Weaver Cemetery with Pastor Alan McCamey officiating. Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
