Cleva Knight

Cleva Lee Hewig Knight, 90, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on February 6, 1932, in Duenweg, Missouri, to Burk and Bertha Hewig. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and reading the bible.

She married Norman Knight on May 25, 1951, and resided in Carthage with him; he survives.

Along with her husband Norman Knight of the home, Cleva is survived by two sons, Mark Knight, and wife Linda of Carl Junction; Doug Knight and wife Glenda of Lamar; son in law Darrell McConnell of Carthage; sister Betty Conway and husband Jerry; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise McConnell; grandson Jordan McConnell; two sisters, Ruby Moore, and Erma Sanders.

A funeral service is scheduled for Cleva Knight at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Ulmer Funeral Home. A visitation will be held the evening before from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022. Burial will follow the service on Saturday at Dudman Springs in Carthage, Missouri.

Colter Harmon

The exciting moments of pregnancy have turned to sorrow and heartfelt loss with the death of our baby boy, Colter King Harmon on November 10, 2022.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Kenton Redman and Wayne and Virginia Harmon.

He leaves behind his loving family who will always love him. Parents, Kylie Marie Hanna and Jesse Lee Harmon; brother, Emrick Harmon; grandparents, Danny and Tanya Hunter, Robert and Leann Hanna and Michelle Price and Shane Harmon; great-grandparents, Goldie Redman and Bob & Cindy Hanna; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Ola Textor

On November 25, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., Ola Marie Best Textor, age 79, went home to her eternal reward. Ola was born September 6, 1943, the third of five children, to Floyd and Georgia (Brown) Best in Parin, Arkansas.

Ola was a faithful wife, loving mom, entertaining grandma, talented artist, horticulturist, compassionate pastor’s wife and prayer warrior.

She leaves behind 3 children Teresa Textor of Lamar, MO, Dennis (Tina) Textor of Fair Grove, MO, and Clifton (Michelle) Textor of Houma, LA; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother Donald Best; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart of 60 years, Robert Burl Textor; her parents, infant brother, her brother Floyd Leon Best, and her sister Lois Best Babbs.

The family will receive visitors at Konantz Warden Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 5 PM to 7 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 30, 2022, at 11 AM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Graveside to follow at Lake Cemetery.

Mary Lou Staib

Mary Lou Staib was born in Racine, Missouri, on December 10, 1941, one of seven children to Roy Evert and Hathaway (Rich) Williams. She went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2022, at the age of 80. 

Mary Lou was a lifelong area resident and a homemaker. She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church, where she served as a pianist for twenty-five years. 

Mary Lou and Floyd Dean Staib were united in marriage on June 20, 1957, in Racine, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2002. 

Mary Lou is lovingly survived by her three children, Dema Staib of Hollister, Missouri, Evert Staib and wife, Gini of Seneca, Missouri and Gail Brown of Neosho, Missouri; two granddaughters, Rachel Brown and Emily Brown; two brothers, Bill Williams of Grove, Oklahoma and Marshvon Williams of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Lillys Ludiker and husband, Larry of Neosho and Connie Humphreys of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Lee Williams and Pete Williams, and four sisters-in-law, Beverly Williams, Dale Williams, Jean Williams, and Joan Williams. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, her son, Evert Staib, will officiate. Interment will follow in the King Cemetery, and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Sharon Durbin

Sharon Kay (Wallace) Greninger-Durbin, age 63, of Diamond, MO. entered into rest on November 26, 2022, after a sudden illness. Sharon was born October 9, 1959, to Buddie and Faye (Hency) Wallace. She was a lifelong area resident. Sharon graduated from high school in Diamond, MO. 

Sharon married her soulmate, Kenneth Durbin, on May 13, 2011, in Miami, OK., and he survives.

She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and loved listening to music. 

Sharon is survived by her mother, Faye Wallace of Diamond, MO., one sister, Linda Swofford, of Joplin, MO., one brother, Wayne (Barbara) Wallace of Diamond, MO., two sons Travis Heckmaster, of Joplin, MO., and Austin (Kaylee) Greninger of Miami, OK., two stepdaughters, Tabatha (Lawrence) Durbin- Cuington of Oronogo, MO., and Regan Greninger of Vian, OK., twelve grandchildren, Austin, Journee, Audra, Mya, Stone, Masen, Caden, Addison, Cassady, Dakota, Rylan, and Teaghan, two great-grandchildren, Cason and Nevaeh, two nieces Melissa (Wayne) Swofford and Tiffany Jordan, four nephews, Joseph Swofford, Hunter Swofford, Forest Swofford, and Dylan Wallace, two great nieces, Cheyenne and Alexis, one great nephew River, one great great nephew, Laityn.

She is preceded in death by her father, Buddie Wallace; four aunts, Betty Jane (Wallace) Wallender, Bonnie Wallace, Evelyn Hency, and Fern (Hency) James; two uncles, Billy Wallace and Elvis Hency, one husband, Monty Greninger and one nephew Dewey Swofford.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, MO. A funeral service will be at the 1st Baptist Church in Diamond on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Diamond Cemetery. 

Those serving as pallbearers will be Travis Heckmaster, Austin Greninger, Dylan Wallace, Wayne Logan, David James, Carl James, Marty Slinkard, and Bob Taylor, with Joseph Swofford serving as an honorary pallbearer.

 

Bill Dobbs

William Dean “Bill” Dobbs was called home on Saturday evening, November 26, 2022, after a two-year battle with cancer and kidney disease.

He was born November 18, 1954, to the union of A.G.”Bob” Dobbs and Virgie Christine Sreaves. 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen, as well as four children, Erin (Justin) Farmer, Emmy (Tien) Duong, Allie (Jason) Wakefield, and Spencer (Rachel) Dobbs. He is further survived by a plethora of grandchildren and great children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob.

Bill spent his working career as a manager for the Springfield Boys’ Club, a facility manager for the Missouri Division of Youth Services, and a law career that spanned 23 years as a Prosecuting Attorney. 

He was committed to serving his community, his family, and his clients. Bill especially enjoyed historical reenactments of the Mountain Man era, Cowboy Action Shooting, and riding motorcycles. Bill treasured his lifelong friendships and large, extended family. He felt extremely blessed by the number of people he considered to be close friends.

Services will be held on Friday evening, December 2, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes and will be presided over by Rev. Thomas Plumbley. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Boots Sherrick

Tammatha Ann Sherrick, age 46, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Mercy of Joplin.

Boots was born June 17, 1976 in Joplin, daughter of the late Colleen Marie Sherrick. She grew up in Joplin, and after an accident at a young age, she has been a stay at home mentor to many, especially her children and grandchildren. 

She loved spending time with her family, and her best friend, Paula Patterson. She was known to light up the room when she entered, and was always the comedy for the time together, and was intentionally glamorous to get reactions from her friends. Her biggest joy was spending time at the lake, didn’t matter if she was fishing, swimming, or camping out, she loved being on the lake.

Boots is survived by her daughters, Mariah Sharp and Frankie Drury both of Joplin, and a son, Cody Drury also of Joplin; grandchildren, Abigail Mauch, Zachariah Davenport, Malikai Drury, Vallance Drury, and Maisie Drury on the way; God children, Nickole Patterson, Brittany Rogers-Davis, Austin Robinson, and Megan Robinson all of Miami, Oklahoma; five grand God children; an aunt Tina Sherrick, an uncle Tommy Sherrick, and a nephew Billy Sherrick all of Joplin.

Service arrangements pending.
