Barbara Sue Garrison, age 64 of Aurora, MO, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
Born January 4, 1951 in Pittsburg, KS, she was the daughter of the late Ora Clyde Large and Hazel Nettie Munger Large and was from a family of 19 children. She had lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. Barbara was a private duty nurse all of her working life. Her main focus was on serving the elderly and caring for her family, especially the babies. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
In 1971 she married Mark W. Garrison, Sr. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2013.
Survivors include four children, Charles Dean Large and wife Kay of Fort Scott, KS, Tina Oakes of the home in Aurora, Mark W. Garrison, Jr. and wife Stacy of Boonville, MO, Eldora Kay Garrison, also of the home; six grandchildren, Jason Hanan, Stephanie Large, Seth Tena, Lahanna Large, Mark W. Garrison III and Andrew D. Garrison; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnny, Don, Leo, Danny, Richard, Kenny, Pat, Merlene, Margaret and Rose; along with many extended family.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Enoch Leakey officiating. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin.
