Joe Chidester

Joe L. Chidester, age 56, of Joplin, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his home, following an illness.

Joe was born on July 30, 1959 in Webb City, Mo., the son of the late J.D. and Gladys Chidester. He has been a lifetime area resident. He married Cindy Sutton on September 30, 1977, together they raised two daughters. He worked twenty-five years for Lozier. He then went to work for Steve’s Trading Post. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed woodworking, knives, guns and archery.
Joe is survived by his wife Cindy Chidester, Joplin; two daughters, Jennifer Chidester, Webb City, Mo., and Rachel Barley and husband Brad, Carthage, Mo.; three sisters, Joyce Burton, Carterville, Mo., Carol Kulp, Joplin, and Debbie Pretzer, Warren, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Alexandra Pena, Donivan Pena, Brendan Campbell, Carson Barley, and Adelynn Barley.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Doug Lawson, Minister will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

  1. May God bless and strengthen you through this. I knew Joe from his job and always enjoyed buying from him. He was a very knowledgeable and helpful salesman. He was also proud of his family and would tell me about them as we chatted over business. He will be missed as long as we are alive.
