Cecile Kimbrough

Cecile Josephine (Narrell) Kimbrough, 109, died September 24, 2015 in Marshall, Missouri. 

She was born August 10, 1906 to William Jasper Narrell and Balma Ozelle (Bennett) Narrell in Monett, Missouri, one of 11 children. As a small child she moved with her family to the Wheaton, MO area. Cecile spent her youth attending Wheaton public schools. 

She married Quilla H. Kimbrough on June 20, 1925. To this union were born two sons, Quilla Houston Kimbrough, Jr. and Billie James Kimbrough. Quilla and Cecile had been raised on a farm and they continued to farm after their marriage in the Tipton Ford and Wheaton areas. In April, 1962 they opened the Junction Dinner House, south of Wheaton. After Quilla’s death on November 7, 1967, Cecile continued to operate the restaurant until 1972. Upon selling the restaurant she relocated to Neosho, MO and joined the Hillcrest Church of Christ. In Neosho, she worked for J.B. Shop and Lindsay’s Department Store until 1978. She was a member of the Aerobic Club and Neosho Area Widow to Widow. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for Sale Hospital (now Freeman Neosho Hospital) donating over 1500 hours. In January, 2001 she retired to Marshall, MO, making her home at Golden Oaks Assisted Living. While there she made many friends and attended the Marshall Church of Christ. 

In addition to her husband, Cecile is preceded in death by her sons, Quilla Kimbrough, Jr. in July, 1999 and Bill Kimbrough in January, 2007, as well as one granddaughter, Brenda Freund of Neosho in November, 2003. She is survived by four grandsons and their spouses, Jerry and Sharon Kimbrough of Neosho, Wayne and Jeanette Kimbrough of Sarcoxie, MO, Joe and Tammy Kimbrough of Sedalia, MO and Jack Kimbrough; twelve grandchildren, many great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
