Carl Broadwater

Carl P. Broadwater, age 89, of Joplin, Missouri went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 17, 2015 following a short illness.

He was born January 13, 1926 in Mannington, West Virginia to Russell and Nettie (Hawkinberry) Broadwater.

Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. After his service to his country he worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass Industries (PPG) retiring in 1978 as a Contract Sales Manager after 32 years of service.

He married Mary Mapes on July 29, 1946. Mary preceded him in death on September 2, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank Broadwater.

Carl is survived by one son, Larry Broadwater, and wife, Jane, of Joplin, Missouri and one daughter, Nancy Dawson, and husband, Jack, of Webb City, Missouri, five grandchildren; Julie Howerton and husband, Steve, of Joplin, Missouri, Jeremiah Dawson and wife, Michelle, of Webb City, Missouri, Kristen Broadwater, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Ryan Broadwater and wife, Christine, of Denver, Colorado and Sarah Bandy and husband, Joshua, of Webb City, Missouri, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three brothers; Charles Broadwater of Bedford, Illinois, Ray Broadwater of Clay City, Illinois and Russell Broadwater of Oakdale, Illinois and his step-mother, Kay Broadwater Maggard.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Kyle Beverlin officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.

Those gentlemen honoring Carl's life by serving as pallbearers will be; Jeremiah Dawson, Steve Howerton, Ryan Broadwater, Joshua Bandy, Cody Howerton and Zachary Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Dawson and Jadan Taylor.

In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City, Missouri or to First Baptist Church Building Fund of Joplin, Missouri in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
