Joanne Mieseler

Joanne Frances Hafner Mieseler, age 82, of Joplin, Missouri passed away at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015 at her home following a short illness.

Mrs. Mieseler was born June 17, 1933 at St Paul, Minnesota. She moved to Joplin, Missouri in 1971 from St. Paul, Minnesota and was a homemaker and loving mother of six.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Joplin, Missouri, previously active in the Meals on Wheels program, chair of the bereavement committee and also played the organ at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for twenty-five years. She was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and, for many years, the Business and Professional Women’s Association.

She married Walter P. Mieseler on January 28, 1956 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; George A. and Frances Hafner, as well as her loving brother, Gerald A. Hafner.

Joanne is survived by six children; Patricia A. Holt and husband, Donald, of Monett, Missouri, Steven W. Mieseler and wife, Vicky, of Carl Junction, Missouri, John J. Mieseler of Bryan, Texas, Paul G. Mieseler and wife, Beverly, of Joplin, Missouri, Michael P. Mieseler and wife, Christie, of Ozark, Missouri and Catherine J. Hagen of Joplin, Missouri, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Joanne Hafner.

Funeral Mass was held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 3035 S. Central City Road, Joplin, Missouri with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Those gentlemen honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were; Steven W. Mieseler, John J. Mieseler, Paul G. Mieseler, Michael P. Mieseler, Marcus P. Mieseler and T. Daniel Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald L. Holt and Dustin W. Holt.

Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
