Donald Martin

Donald Jean Martin, 83, passed away at home, in Webb City, following an illness.


He was born December 19, 1931, in Blue Mound, KS to Bess May (Wells) and Otho Martin.
Donald attended Webb City schools, and entered the U.S. Air Force in August of 1950 and served four years. He attended Joplin Junior College and received a Master’s Degree from Kansas State College. Don taught at Webb City High School from 1961 to 1966, and then he worked as a senior counselor for the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation until 1991. He served on the Webb City Council, the electrical board and water board. Don was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Webb City since 1957.

He married Barbara Jean Jacobson on December 15, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Scott Martin of Kansas City, MO.; two daughters, Nancy Miller and husband, Dace, of Springfield, MO and Amy Thomlinson and husband, Scott, of Diamond, MO. Grandchildren are Aubrey Miller, Dace Miller, Andrew Miller, Prescott Thomlinson, Guy Thomlinson and Malcolm Thomlinson. He was preceded in death by his brothers Othel and Kenneth and sisters, Juanita and Melvita. 

The family will have a memorial service on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Central United Methodist Church in Webb City at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Clint Lambeth officiating. The family will have a private committal service at Carterville Cemetery.
