Margaret L. Sutton, 92, of Pittsburg, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015.
She was born July 4, 1923, at Anderson, MO, the daughter of William Franklin and Beulah (Hire) Anderson. On May 26, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jesse K. Sutton at Pittsburg, KS. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1979. Mrs. Sutton was the secretary at the Pittsburg State University Health Center for 35 years. Membership was held in the College Heights United Methodist Church, Pittsburg. She was also a member of the Pittsburg State University Alumni.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by one son, John A. Shattuck, Sr., and his wife, Irene of Pittsburg, one daughter, Deanna L. Currie of Wichita, KS, two step sons, Dennis Sutton and his wife, Ann of Webb City, MO, and Danny Sutton and his wife, Darla of Dennis, KS, five grandchildren, Gilbert Currie III, Kristie Currie, John Shattuck, Jr., Steven Ray Shattuck and Carrie Louise Shattuck and two great grandchildren, Skylar Shattuck and Jordyn Shattuck. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, one step son, Kenneth Sutton, one brother, William Anderson and one sister, Georgia Geisler.
A service for Mrs. Sutton is set for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the College Heights United Methodist Church, Pittsburg, with Reverend Josh Gooding officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the College Heights United Methodist Church and/or the SEK Humane Society.
