Torrie Callihan

LaVorra Phyllis “Torrie” Callihan, age 77 passed away at her Joplin home on 9-9-15. Torrie was born May 12, 1938 in rural Delaware County Oklahoma.

She married Jerry Matthew Callihan on May 21, 1953 at Neosho, MO. He passed in 1998.

She was the loving mother of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Matt and Luke also preceded her in death.

She is survived by Mark and Paula Callihan, John M. and Debbie Callihan, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be missed by many more.

Throughout her life, she had lived in Wyandotte, Seneca and Joplin. She operated several local restaurants, was a host at the Red Onion and enjoyed being an over the road driver with her husband.

She was a member of South Joplin Christian Church, a Past Matron in 2001 at Ruth Chapter No 177 Order of Easter Star, a Past Matron in the Order of the Amaranth and a member of The Order of The White Shrine of Jerusalem. She held various offices and was a past Matron of Faith Chapter 334. She was a docent at the Joplin History & Mineral Museum.

In lieu of flowers, she prefers a kindly donation at Parker Mortuary to assist her great grand children’s college efforts.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary with an Eastern Star Service. Private graveside services will be at a later date.
