Penny Elam

At 90 years of age, Penny Ann Elam passed from this life to a better one on September 9, 2015 with her daughter by her side at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch.

She worked at Meeker Mfg. for many years. Penny retired from St. John's Hospital where she was a Ward Clerk.

Penny married Bill Elam on August 4, 1951. After retiring, they started Elam's Woodcrafts and they enjoyed their travels near and far doing craft shows.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bill Elam; her mother, Susie Leathers Bridgewater and father, Harry Bridgewater; two sisters, Evelyn Foraker and Beulah James; two brothers, David Bridgewater and Frank Currier; grandson, Steve Arehart.

Survivors are her daughter, Shirley Heeney of Joplin; grandson, Jack Arehart and wife Teresa of Carl Junction; great-grandson, Dustin Arehart of Ayer, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; also Ted Jeffers, who has been her loving, faithful friend for many years. He and his family were like her own.

A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Communities of Wildwood Ranch and Hospice Compassuss for the loving care they gave her. She received the best care possible.

Arrangements have been set for Monday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri. Internment to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-4:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
