The family of Dick Fanning announces his passing on Friday, September 11, 2015 at his home. We will celebrate his love of family, friends and life.
Dick was born December 10, 1928 in Carthage, MO; the only child of Paul Harris Fanning and Edith Florine Garner Fanning. He was a graduate of Carthage Senior High School, Class of 1947 and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He married Charlotte Jeanne Hansford on June 19, 1949 in Carthage. Dick was a member of the Ennis, Texas Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner with the Dallas Texas Shrine. He was a past president of the American International Charolais Association. He began his career with Leggett & Platt in 1954, retiring in 1999 as President of the Western Region- Bedding Components.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanne; his daughter, Susan Skaggs and husband, Steve and their family, Sam, Meg, Sadie, Robinson and Henry Skaggs; daughter, Sara Fanning and her family, Megan, Jimmy, Genevieve and Violet Adams and Taylor Grimes.
A memorial service was held Friday, September 18 at Grace Episcopal Church, 820 Howard St., Carthage, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American International Junior Charolais Foundation, the Dick Fanning Scholarship Fund, 11700 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City, MO, 64153.
