Carol Southern

Carol Lynn (Maples) Southern was born August 17, 1950 in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of Claude and Sammy (McBee) Maples. She entered into rest on December 16, 2019 in Joplin, following an extended illness at the age of 69.

Carol was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Neosho High School. She had last worked as a supervisor at Scholastic in Neosho. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed working in her flowers. She was a Christian. 

Carol and Malloy 'Sonny' Southern were married on December 17, 1992 and he survives. 








In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Heather VanLue and husband, Neil of Joplin and Brandi Versluis and husband, Joey of Neosho; three stepchildren, Keith Southern, Chad Southern and wife, Cari and Stacy Enlow and husband, Rusty; five grandchildren, Finn Versluis, Leyton Versluis, Carter Versluis, Hunter VanLue and Craig VanLue and her best friend, Susan West. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Claudia Rousseau.
