David Auld

Ret. Col. David Hunter Auld, Jr., 93, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

David entered this life on August 19, 1926, in Kilwinning, Scotland, born to the late David Hunter Auld, Sr. and Margaret (Wales) Auld. He was raised in Niagara Falls, New York, and was a 1945 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. After his commitment with the Army Air Corp, he re-enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aviation Cadet. David served the majority of his military career in Fighters. His last assignment was Director of Operations 9th Air Force Tactical Squadron Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. He served his country faithfully for 31 years, retiring in 1976 as Colonel of the United States Air Force. 

In 1955, while on a flight to Las Vegas, he met a beautiful Airline Stewardess, Marjorie Toutz from Webb City, Missouri. They dated for seven years and on October 20, 1962, they married and were blessed with two children. In 1976, they retired to Webb City. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and following the stock market. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Webb City.








He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David H. Auld, III; and two siblings, Tom and Myra Auld.

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Auld, of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Auld, of Dallas, Texas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services with full military honors are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Mt. Hope Cemetery Open Air Chapel with Pastor Charles Spencer officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
