Liz Comer

Elizabeth A. “Liz” Comer, age 80, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday December 22, 2019, at her home, following courageous battle with cancer.

Liz was born on July 15, 1939 in Joplin, the daughter of the late Walter and Pearl (Alexander) Daniel. She has been a lifetime area resident. She graduated in 1957 from Joplin High School.

Liz married Leon Comer on March 17, 1956, together they raised two sons. She and Leon owned and operated Comer’s Mini Storage, they were also the former owner/operators of Comer’s Wrecker Service. She was a member of Mt. Hope Church of Christ. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and arts and crafts. She loved traveling and going places with her friends and family.








She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Comer on August 1, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Russell; and a sister, Alpha Russell.

Liz is survived by her sons, Chuck Comer and wife Debbie, Joplin, and David Comer and wife Edie, Joplin; two grandsons, Justin Comer and wife Chelsea, and Jake Comer; and two great-grandchildren, Brenley and Brexton Comer.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Frank McReynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
