Ruby DeHart

Ruby M DeHart, age 94, passed away at 9:46 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at her home following an illness.

Ruby was born March 17, 1925 in Columbus, KS. Her parents were Stacy and Ethel (Mayhood) Robison. She had lived in the area all of her life.

She earned a Bachelor degree in 1964 from Pitt State, Pittsburg, KS. She then began her career as a kindergarten teacher. She taught a total of 32 years, last working at the Riverton KS schools for 22 years, until her retirement in 1988. She attended 1st Community Church in Joplin. She loved to travel, work crossword puzzles, crochet and needlepoint.

Ruby was married to Lester DeHart on May 5, 1949 in Bentonville, AR. He preceded her in death October 17, 1993. Her parents, 5 brothers, Purl, Bob, Stacy, Glenn and Vern and 2 sisters, Fern Smith and Doris Holland also preceded her in death.








Surviving is one daughter, Cindy Spector, Joplin, MO; one son, Michael DeHart, Joplin, MO; one sister, Lois Crain, Pittsburg, KS; one brother, Murl Robison, Hallowell, KS; 3 grandsons, David Spector, Chris Spector and Aaron DeHart; 4 great-grandsons, Devin Spector, Preston Spector, Isaac Spector, and Doren Spector and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Terry Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care given to Ruby by Hospice Compassus. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
