Hildred Bohm

(From Parker Mortuary)

Mrs. Hildred Eileen Bohm, 98, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2019, in the comfort of her home.

Hildred entered this life on January 11, 1921, in Cawker City, Kansas, daughter of the late Gustav and Ida (Moyer) Remus. She was raised and attended school in Glen Elder, Kansas.

In 1938, she was united in marriage to Joseph J. Bohm, and to this union six children were born. They resided in Kansas until moving to Joplin, Missouri, in 1956. Hildred rode a pony to school, endured the dust bowls in Kansas, the Great Depression, and saw a man land on the moon! As one of the greatest generations in history, she worked hard in school, on the farm, and watched her siblings. She saw her husband off to war, keeping the home fires burning until he returned. She sewed clothes, prepared hearty meals, and drove her kids to school and their activities in a station wagon with no seatbelts, oh my!

Hildred will be dearly missed in the hearts of those who loved her. She loved her family, reading, gardening, bird watching, and daily scenic drives with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Joseph Bohm; a son, Kenneth Bohm; a grandson, Todd Bohm; and two siblings, Virginia Schneider and Darrell Remus.

Hildred is survived by her five children, Judith Bohm of Austin, Texas, Roger Bohm and wife, Bobbie, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Janet Howerton of Round Rock, Texas, Beverly Mitchell of Joplin and Sharon Yust and husband, Ron, also of Joplin; thirteen grandchildren, two of whom she raised, Jeffery Bohm and Andrea Horton and her two sons, Nicholas and Christopher, Kevin Bohm, Bridget Goyeneche, Justin Bohm, Matt Bohm, Stephanie McCormack, Melissa Ponce, John Mitchell, Christine Kallio, Taylor Yust, and Ashton Yust; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; a sister, Dorothy Bussen of Wallace, Kansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019, in the Chapel of Parker Mortuary with Kevin Bohm officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jeffery Bohm, Kevin Bohm, Matt Bohm, Taylor Yust, John Mitchell, Nicholas Horton and Christopher Horton.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary.
