(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Mr. Douglas Gene Sanders, 52, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Douglas entered this life on December 12, 1968 in Carthage, Missouri. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was united in marriage to Melissa Hamsher on December 16, 2010 in Carthage, Missouri. Douglas was a Christian by faith. He was a volunteer EMT as well as a firefighter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Vernon L. Sanders, Sr.; and several aunts and uncles.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Melissa, of the home; mother, Mona Sanders, of Sarcoxie; siblings, Vernon Lee Sanders, Jr., Martha Rhymer and husband, Mark and Marlene Sanders, all of Sarcoxie and Joyce Hull and husband, John, of Republic; niece and nephews, Frances Shirley, Daniel Rhymer, Austin Rhymer, Mason Hull and Izaiah Hull; several other nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Don Sullivan officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are A.J. Rhymer, Daniel Rhymer, Austin Rhymer, Mason Hull, Izaiah Hull and Kevin Barnard. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Thursday from the hours of 8-6 p.m. and Friday from 8-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
