Kim Pearson

(From Parker Mortuary)

Kimberly Lorraine Pearson, age 57, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at her home.

Kim, daughter of Norman Jansen and Gloria (Asher) Fogarty, was born on June 14, 1964 in Kansas City, KS. A lefty born on flag day, she grew up and worked in the Kansas City area until she relocated to Joplin to raise her kids in 1997.

She was a hard worker with a strong work ethic providing for her children as a single mother at times. Her family came first, always putting their needs above her own. 2017 came with a cancer diagnosis however, Kim refused to let that stop her. Kim was a fighter.

A lung wedge, 2 brain surgeries, a resectioned colon and the woman still bragged often about kicking cancer’s ass! She had a love for fudge, taking the scenic route and chatting about the old days with good company. She was known at times as the windchime lady. Many great talks can be remembered sitting on a porch with her while she shared her stories and wisdoms.

Most of all, she loved making memories with her grandchildren. She was very proud of having so many grandkids and would stake the same claim to any child who would call her grandma, Bammah, gg-ma, or gangster grandma- she loved them all the same. Kim was known for always providing a loving home for any and all kids that she considered family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her mother, Gloria Fogarty, of Grove; her children, Tiffany Prater and James Baker of Joplin, Steven Pearson, of Webb City, Brent Gunderson, and his wife Jennifer, of Highland, California, Joshua Pearson, and his wife, Cayti, of Joplin, Jacob Caraway, of Webb City, Macko Caraway, of Tulsa and Linzy Caraway, of Tulsa; her brother, Gus Jansen, of Joplin; her sister, Dretha Thompson, of Webb City; grandchildren, Reece, Lillien, Tripp, Cierra, Audrey, Madison, Dustin, Connor, Kennedy, Laken, Abree, Eymber, Kolbin, Ka’Miah, Mack, Logan, Boston, Aleigha, Sunny, Willa, Scout; and several extended family members and friends.
