(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Caroline Ann Rowan, age 80 of Joplin, MO, passed away at 9:55 am on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center of Joplin, MO.
Caroline was born in Joplin, MO on February 16, 1941 to Arthur William Rowan and Thelma Lucille (Hylton) Rowan. She was a graduate of Joplin High School.
For 23 years, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Barker’s Rest Home in Galena, KS before her retirement in 1987. She spent several evenings each week participating in local dancing clubs, and was also fond of collecting teddy bears.
Survivors include three sons; Jerry Robert LaTurner (wife, Delcina) of Galena, Perry David LaTurner of Joplin, MO, and Gary Wayne LaTurner of Galena; one half-sister, Tina Nemo (husband, Randy) of Joplin; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Rowan and Thelma Hester; one daughter, Theresa June LaTurner; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Ms. Rowan has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a graveside memorial service at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena.
