(From Midland Cremation)Richard (Dick) Glasson passed away in Joplin on January 21, 2022 at Mercy Hospital.
Dick was born in Chicago on August 27, 1933 to George and Catherine Glasson. He married Judith Matteson on July 9, 1960. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2017.
After service to his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, Dick settled down, got married and had 4 children.
Survivors include four children: Dawn Heslin(Craig), Baxter Springs, KS; Diahn (Dee) Redmon (Denny), Joplin; Jeanne Hunter(Kent), Joplin and Eric Glasson(Laurie), St. Louis; and 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Dick loved the outdoors-working in the yard, camping, fishing and road trips. On any given weekend you could find him working in the yard. When he got older he turned his attention to bonsai trees. Several of those also survive.
Per his instructions, there will be no services. His wishes were for his ashes to be scattered at one of his favorite places-Roan Mountain in Tennessee. The Smoky Mountains were his absolute favorite place and the family will take a group vacation there in the future to do just that
