Chad Shields

Chad Shields, age 49, of Independence, Mo. passed away at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Ks. Chad was born May 18, 1972 in Joplin, Mo. He was raised in Joplin and Webb City, and graduated in 1990 from Webb City High School where he was a member of the 1989 State Championship Football Team.

Chad had lived in the Kansas City area since 1997. He was employed as a Project Manager and Project Engineer for T-Mobil Cellular Co. in Lee’s Summit for the past 14 years. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. 








Chad was involved in Racing, beginning with Legend Cars in 1997 where he also owned the Legend Dealership in Kansas City for two years. He was currently involved win Power I Midget Racing with his team winning the Central United States Championship in 2019, and 2020.

Chad married Jennifer Moore September 4, 2021 and she survives. 

Additional survivors include two sons, Brady Shields, Lee’s Summit, Mo. and Logan Shields, Independence, Mo. two step daughters, McKylie Davidson, and Karissa Davidson, both of Independence, Mo., and his parents, Wally and Debbie Shields, Webb City, Mo. 

Chad was preceded in death by his Mother, Susan Smith, and a sister, Kristie Williams.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin with Pastor Josh Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Family visitation will at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel, prior to the service. 

Pallbearers will be Brady Shields, Jerry Lybarger, Tom Nading, Cody Lee, Tyler Hervey, and Jerome Myers. Memorial contributions are requested to the Joplin Full Gospel Church, 2601 Indiana, Joplin, Mo. 64804. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
