(From Midland Cremation Society)Brittany Cherie Beatty passed away suddenly on June 9, 2024.
Brittany was born June 22, 1994, to Beth Beatty and Bryan McClendon in Pittsburg, KS. She attended grade school in Parsons, KS, before her family relocated to Girard for her 3rd grade year in 2002.
As a child, she enjoyed skating around the house with reckless abandon and playing Dreamcast with her father and brother. She also enjoyed shopping with her mother and friends, but she had trouble deciding what she wanted, so she would spend hours at the store.
Brittany was a graduate of Girard High School in the class of 2012, where she played basketball and softball. She was a great athlete and a fierce competitor who was known for her speed and toughness. In high school, she played through a state softball tournament with a broken hand, "If it breaks worse, we'll just put a pin in it."
Brittany was outgoing, easily made friends, and was always smiling and laughing. She was a talented artist who sketched and painted in her free time, and we will be displaying her self-portrait at her celebration of life. There has been a flood of support and love from people who knew her. It has been a comfort to her family to see all the memories she made and the good times she shared.
In 2012, she gave birth to Harper Laiken Webb, whom she called the brightest light in her life. Although she struggled with addiction and mental illness, Harper was always the first and last thing on her mind when she spoke with family.
She is survived by her parents, Bryan and Beth of Girard, KS. Her brothers Bradley and Brady McClendon of Girard, KS. Her daughter, Harper Webb of Bentonville, AR. Maternal grandfather, Randy Beatty of Pittsburg, KS. Paternal Grandmother Kathryn Vance of Pittsburg, KS. Maternal Great-Grandmother Cora Seat of Fairland, OK. Uncle David McClendon of Pittsburg, KS. Uncle Derek Beatty and Aunt Kimberly Shead, cousins Jadyn and Xiden Beatty, all of Pittsburg, KS. As well as numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Paulette Smith. Maternal great-grandmother Gladys Schubert. Uncle Jason McClendon. Brittany has been cremated. We are having a celebration of life for our sweet girl on Friday, June 14th, at the Girard Civic Center at 6 p.m. This will be an informal setting, so everyone who knew and loved her can come share memories and condolences. Please dress casually for this celebration.
