(From Parker Mortuary)Gloria Denise Prough-Ogden courageously fought her second and final battle with cancer. She passed away gracefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Denise was born June 22, 1961 in Lamar, Colorado. She graduated from Noble High School in 1979.
The joy of Denise's life were her two children, Madison Ogden-Wright and Hamilton Ogden, and her two granddaughters Voudrey and Averley Wright.
She knew how to make ordinary days into an adventure. She always put others before herself and was so thoughtful and tender-hearted. She spoiled those around her with love, sugar and thoughtful gifts. She never missed a chance to celebrate an occasion or to make someone feel special and seen. Her creativity and imagination fueled many special trips, weekends, birthday parties, and playtimes that will always be treasured.
In addition to being an incredible Momma and the world's best Gigi, Denise was a beloved sister, an adored aunt, and a cherished friend. Her generous heart touched many lives for the better. She will always be remembered for her bright personality, creative spirit, charming smile and compassionate heart. Her house was a welcoming home away from home to many. Her love for Jesus was so evident, no matter the circumstances. Her stronghold in her faith inspired many. She radiated joy and the love of Jesus and was an true example of a Godly woman, until the very end. Her inspiring faith in God anchored her hope in her final days.

Denise was a woman of many talents. She attended cosmetology school and was a hairdresser. She was especially gifted in designing homes and interior decorating. She was great at photography, cooking and baking. She had a special eye for unique items, which she collected over the years. Her skills helped in the opening of her antique store, Grandma's Attic.
During this time she befriended many of her vendors who remember her fondly. Denise continued her entrepreneurship through her property management company until her passing.
She loved to spend time with her family, go shopping, go for drives in her red Corvette, watch movies, and go out for girl's nights. She was a sugar fanatic and liked banana splits, root beer floats and of course, her vanilla Coke. She also really enjoyed traveling; especially to Florida.

Denise is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Wayne Prough Sr. and Gladys Marie Wilson Prough, a niece, Mallary Hope Ward and one baby, which would have been her third child, that passed before birth. She is survived by her two children, two granddaughters, four siblings (Vernon Wayne Prough Jr. (spouse Collette), Canita Marie Prough, Quay Dean Prough Sr. (spouse Denise) and Fanchion Prough Ward (spouse Gregg) and her nieces and nephews Crystal Johnson (spouse Derek), Heather Lysaught (spouse Darin), Justin Prough (spouse Jayla) Kaleb Prough (spouse Tracy), Quay Prough Jr., Hayley Prough, Collin Prough, Kirsten Oviedo (spouse Andres) and Brogan Ward (fiancee Jaxson).
Denise's life will be celebrated with a gathering on June 29th from 10am to 1pm at The Main Event, located at 611 S. Main Street, Joplin, MO, 64801. Please feel free to come and go as you wish.
