Joe Sandridge

Joe H. Sandridge passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on August 17th , 1950, in Carthage, MO to Roy and Marjorie (Ytell) Sandridge. He attended Carl Junction High School where he graduated in 1968. 

After graduation, Joe earned a football scholarship to Missouri Southern State College. He played football for two years before serving his country in the United States Army in Vietnam, earning the rank of E-4.







After returning home he married Kathy Mahurin on August 19 th , 1978, in Joplin, MO. Joe and Kathy have one son, Nathan. Joe spent more than 40 years in the construction industry, where he built lifelong friendships. He retired from Matt Denney Construction in 2018. 

After retirement he spent time serving at the Carl Junction American Legion Post 781 and spending time with his grandsons. Becoming “Papa” and spending time with Matt and Jake was the most important thing in his life. He would visit them daily before school and pick them up from school. Papa never missed anything that involved the boys.

In 2016 Joe had the honor of being inducted into the Carl Junction Bulldogs Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments. Those accomplishments included setting school records in several track events as well as a stand-out football career.

In Joe’s words, his father taught him to always be humble and he truly lived by that.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Nathan & daughter-in-law Lindsay, grandsons Matt and Jake, brothers Jack (Kathy) and Mark (Karen), nephew Blake, niece Tricia Hicks, brother-in-law Gale Mahurin (Terry), nephew Andrew Solomon and great niece Sophia Solomon.








The family will receive friends Thursday, June 6th at Mason-Woodard Chapel from 6:00PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 7th at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Joe Sandridge Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the Carl Junction American Legion Post 781 and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
