Connie Clayton

Connie Beatrice Clayton, 65, Carthage, received her Angel wings on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the National Healthcare Center, Joplin.

Connie B was born January 19, 1950 in Carthage, the daughter of the late George H. Clayton and Wanda "Spry" Clayton. She was a graduate of Monitor Training Center, Carthage, was a member of Christ Church of Perseverance, Joplin, and worked at the Carthage/Joplin Sheltered Workshop for several years.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Clayton, and father, George Clayton.

Survivors include her mother, Wanda Lawrence and step-father, Jim Lawrence, Carthage; two brothers, George Thomas ( wife Angela) Clayton, Searcy, AR; James (wife Jo) Lawrence, Alba, MO; 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 8 great nieces, and 2 great nephews.

Connie loved her family and friends more than anything. She also loved church, singing, laughing, movies, Elvis, and being a part of Special Olympics.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Christ Church of Perseverance, Joplin. Uncle Van Spry and Minister Tom Black will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Sunshine Group Home, Carthage, MO. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
