Beverly Jones

(From Parker Mortuary)

Beverly Katherine Jones, age 91, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at her home.

Beverly was born March 9, 1929 in Hannibal, Missouri, daughter of the late Jesse W. Wilson and Florence E. Bauchle Wilson. She graduated from Hannibal High School in 1947, and moved to Joplin in 1953.

She worked for over 30 years with the Joplin Police Department as their Communication Officer, retiring in 1994. She later in her career dispatched the Sherriff's department and ambulance crews along with the Joplin Police Department. She had a servant's heart, and was more than just a dispatcher to many of the police officers. She loved all her "boys and girls".

She was also a Civilian Advisor, and worked with the Joplin Police Department in that capacity after retirement. She later worked with the St. John's Medical Van Department as a scheduler. She was also an active member of Harmony Heights Baptist Church where she was a greeter, helped as a bank counter, and with the bus ministry. She had a love for ballroom music and dance, going to garage sales, and having a "cold one" (Dr. Pepper). She was a very giving and loving person, and was always serving anyone in need.

In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her son, William Thomas "Tom" Jones who passed away October 21, 2016; sisters, Evelyn L. Bower, Jean McDannold, and a close cousin, Dorothy Caito.

Survivors include Ken and Diana Stotler of Jackson, Missouri, Rachel and Jackie Jacobs of Joplin and their daughter Kristen, and Jan and Carter Scott of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Harmony Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Joplin Police Officers serving as pallbearers. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Vicky Ledford, Tobi Welshhon, Whitli Welshhon, Lesa Lane, and Gretchen Ochs.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
