Tom Garner

Thomas H. Garner, 72, Neosho, MO, passed into eternal rest August 15, 2020, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after an illness.

Thomas Hutchison Garner was born September 27, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, the son of Wilmer and Ruth Hutchison Garner. Tom was passionate about everything he did. He was a loving servant and proclaimed his faith in Christ. He gave of his time and resources without expecting anything in return. Tom made countless sacrifices for his family, his church, and OCC. Tom lived by Christ’s teaching “love God and love people”. 

Tom loved music, model boats, woodworking, and model trains. He loved reading scriptures and especially reading about the Hebrew culture. Tom was a member of the Racine Christian Church. He formerly worked at the Ozark Christian College. Tom proudly served his country and retired from the United States Army in 1986. He also served in Vietnam.








Thomas H. Garner married Elizabeth Reed on October 30, 1971, in Siera Vista, AZ, and she survives.

Additional survivors include; Two sons, James Garner and wife Heather, Burlington, KS and Michael Garner and wife Susan, Leavenworth, KS one daughter, Sabrina Glore and husband Brandon, Neosho, MO; One sister, Ruth (Bunny) Wilhelm, and husband Richard, Hanover, PA; 6 grandchildren, Autumn Dawson, Asher Garner, Zach Garner, Kylie Garner, Paige Glore, and Scarlett Glore and a host of extended family, friends and church family.

A Celebration of Life and memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, August 29, 2020, at the Racine Christian Church with family members officiating.
