John Paul Bartholomew, age 81, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home in Reeds, MO. John was born in Des Moines, IA on July 4, 1939, the son of Raymond and Dorothy Bartholomew.
John married his beloved wife, Janet (Eggers), on November 2, 1958. Together, they owned and operated a sod farm and pet cemetery.
John also worked as a bus driver for the Norwalk School District for 16 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed the memories he made with family and friends over the years. John was an avid fisherman and loved to tell stories of his fishing trips to Canada. John was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet; sister, Nancy (Bob) Radke; children, Dan Bartholomew (Lisa Fischer), Lynne (Craig) Toedtli, Joan Newell (Eric Parker) and Cheryl (Paul) Fazio; grandchildren, Ryan (Mandy), Alan (Erika) and MacKenzie Newell, Madison and Jake Fazio, Connor and Blake Toedtli; great granddaughter, Leilah Riley, as well as other close relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy.
A small family service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 in Carthage, MO, followed by a cremation.
