Charlie Crow

Mr. Charles Grant “Charlie” Crow, 86, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Friday evening, August 14, 2020, while at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.

Charlie entered this life on December 29, 1933, in Miami, Oklahoma, son of the late William and Nellie (Smith) Crow. He was raised in Miami and was a 1952 graduate of Miami High School. He furthered his education at Butler County Junior College receiving an Associates Degree in math. 

On December 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ruthena Smith and to this union three daughters were born. They resided in Wichita, Kansas until moving to Anderson, Missouri, in 1972. For twenty-eight years, he was employed by The Gas Service Company as a specialist. Charlie was a gifted musician. He sang, played the bass guitar and piano with many gospel groups. He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Anderson. Charlie was a Veteran of the United States Army. 








He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings, Bertha Honeycutt, Loyd Crow, Lucretia Ramsey, Harold “Sonny” Crow, Marjorie Longan, Andrew Crow and an infant sister, Beatrice Crow.

Charlie is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ruthena Crow of the home; three daughters, Jennifer Diane McGaughy of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jamie Kay Mitchell of Bentonville, Arkansas and Regina Faye Kissel of Anderson; six grandchildren, Leslie Cartledge (Chip), Kile Campbell (James), James Icenogle, Sabrina Icenogle (Jerry), Shelby Slinkard (Jennifer) and K’Dee Rooney (Brad); five great grandchildren, Zachary, Kay and Madison Thompson, Mchail Rooney and Haven Slinkard; a brother, Jack Crow of Miami, Oklahoma; three sisters, Dixie McCorkell of West Seneca, Oklahoma, Pat Spunaugle of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma and Georgia Sapp of Commerce, Oklahoma; Dave Holt, whom Charlie thought of as a son; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family, church family and numerous friends. 

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Anderson, Missouri, with Bro. John Beck officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Anderson Cemetery. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Shelby Slinkard, Ty Bequette, Jerry Wright, Billy Martin, Randy Smith and B.J. Goodwin. James Icenogle, Jack Crow and Dave Holt will be serving as honorary pallbearers. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
