He was born February 15, 1939 in Muskogee, Oklahoma the son of William McKinley and May (Cole) Hixson.
On January 17, 1989 he was united in marriage to Sharon Howson, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Joey and Johnny; three brothers, Guy, Gus and Orville and three sisters, Betty, JoAnn and Carolyn.
Surviving are one daughter, Irene Hixson of Wheaton, Missouri; one sister, Wilma Glover of Oklahoma; a half-sister, Teresa Arnold of Arkansas; three half-brothers, Darren Hixson of Powell, Missouri and Mike Hixson and Donald Hixson both of Arkansas and two grandsons.
Wayne grew up in Oklahoma, where he received his education. During his life he resided in various states working in the oil fields. He had also worked in construction and farmed. In 1989 he moved to Missouri to make his home.
Private services will be held on August 20, 2020 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
