Darlene Hills

Darlene Jo Hills, age 84, Neosho, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after a sudden illness.

Darlene was born August 1, 1936 in Saginaw, Missouri, daughter of the late Leo Francis Hills and Mildred Gunile Hines Hills. She graduated from Neosho High School, and went to work for Empire District Electric Company at the age of 18, and worked for them for over 40 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Saginaw Baptist Church.

Darlene has lived at her home for over 63 years, and took great pride in the appearance of her plants and gardening around the house. She was also very gracious to all the animals in her area. She was currently feeding her deer, raccoons, and wild birds. She also had a soft spot for all her cats. 








She was a great sister, aunt, great-aunt, and neighbor that will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Hills Kopf, and her longtime companion, Thomas Bowes.

Survivors include her brother, Hugh M. Hills of Neosho, nieces, Conni J. Lipe and husband Ronnie of Joplin, Cathy Kidwell and husband Joe of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Candy Kopf of Nebraska; nephews, Tom Hills and wife Kristan of Joplin, and Randall Kopf and wife Nancy of Nebraska; several great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

No services are planned per Darlene's wishes.
