Charles Rouner

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

Charles Eugene Rouner was born October 14, 1934 to Charles and Audra Rouner in Kirksville Missouri. He died on August 14, 2020 in Webb City at home.

Charles grew up in Plevna Missouri as the only child of Charles and Audra. After graduating from Edina High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps in September, 1953 with his high school friend, Jim Frazee. He proudly served our country in Korea from 1953 until October of 1956. Upon completing his service, he returned to Plevna and joined his dad in the implement business and started his farming career.

He married the love of his life, Paula Pence in January of 1959. From that moment going forward, the two created a life full of family, work and love, inseparable for the next 61 years. Paula and Charles left the farm in 1984 to embark on an adventure that lasted until the day that Charles died.

During the past several years, Charles volunteered at the Souls Harbor Homeless Shelter, sharing his laughter, time and quick jokes while packing food boxes for Joplin’s homeless families. Due to being isolated with the outbreak of COVID-19, he had to stop working at Souls Harbor with intention to returning as soon as he could.
