Brenda Pohlman

Brenda Colleen Pohlman, 70, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Missouri. Brenda was born May 20, 1951, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Bert Dunkle and Bertha (Royster) Dunkle. 

Brenda married Kenneth Spurgeon, to this union two children were born they later divorced. She then married Rick Pohlman on November 11, 1992; he preceded her in death on January 25, 2015. 








Brenda was a homemaker, a faithful Christian, a self-taught photographer, and loved to visit with family and friends. She was known for her generosity, loving to help the neighborhood kids with their school fundraiser and other local charities.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Spurgeon (Lori), and Keith Spurgeon (Allyson), all of Reeds, Missouri; five brothers and sisters, Donald Dunkle (Kay), Larry Dunkle (Shurley), Michael Dunkle, Beverly Allen (Rob), and Janice Silver (Jack); seven grandchildren, Katrisha Vargo, Kaylia Spurgeon, Katie Heesch, Isaac Spurgeon, Kortney Spurgeon, Sarah Porter, and Kordale Spurgeon; and seven great grandchildren, Brendan, Phoenix, Bentley, Jesse, Haisley, Ryan, and Aiden.

She also preceded in death by her parents, and seven brothers and sisters, Rondale Dunkle, Gary Dunkle, Erma Stark, Thelma Howell, Evelyn Dunkle, Barbara Jack, and Carolyn Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Knell Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Reeds Cemetery. Brenda will lie and state at the mortuary from 12:00 pm to 5:00 PM Tuesday, and from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
