(From Parker Mortuary)Floyd Willis Farris, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Born on October 21, 1934, to Doshie and Willis Farris, Floyd lived a remarkable life filled with service, passion, and love.
Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying values of dedication and honor.
His love for basketball extended beyond being a fan, as he enjoyed coaching and mentoring young athletes, instilling in them the importance of teamwork and perseverance. He spent his career as a devoted high school principal, guiding countless students and staff across multiple school districts with wisdom and compassion.
Outside of his career, Floyd found joy in woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His greatest joy, however, was his family. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Floyd’s legacy is reflected in the lives of those who loved him.
Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Farris; son, Christopher Farris, and wife Dusty; stepchildren, Christina Leggett, and husband Myron, and Jason Gilstrap, and wife, Carrie; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Maloney; brother, Jack Farris; sister, Imojean Casey, daughter, Kathleen McGlothlin; stepdaughter, Teresa Kemp, and granddaughter Taylor Kemp.
A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held in Wichita, Kansas at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends.
Floyd’s kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered.
